Greetings everyone! During the first week of June (6-10), I will be heading back to the Badlands in South Dakota to work on my book project. I will be specifically looking to capture thunderstorms over the park. In addition, or in lieu of storms, I will also be photographing wildlife and other subjects throughout the area.
I am opening an invitation to other chasers and photographers that want to tag along. This isn’t a paid thing. If you are interested, just book a campsite/cabin and stop in. if you are into camping, check out Cedar Pass which is the site within the park. There are a couple other facilities nearby, I stayed at the Badlands Interior Campground once and it was a decent place as well, and they have cabins if tents are not your thing.
If you have not been to the Badlands, it’s a wonderful place. Here is a quick video I did of a helicopter tour.
The average high is in the mid to upper 80’s so be sure to dress/pack for warm temps. The lows get down to the mid 50’s so it can be a bit chilly unless you have a good tent/sleeping bag. Obviously, since we will be there for storms, be sure to have a weather radio as camping in severe weather is never an amazing idea.
Once we get a bit closer, I will start putting together a general schedule for if there are no storms on where to visit each day I am there. I’ll be sure to post that here. I cannot wait for the trip, and can’t wait to meet all of you that choose to go with!
If you would like to be emailed when more information is available, let me know below. Thank you, and I hope to see you there!
